Impact of Early Postoperative Enteral Nutrition on the Recovery Process in Children with Congenital Heart Disease

Abstract：Objective To explore the impact of early postoperative enteral nutrition care on the recovery process in children with congenital heart disease.Methods A prospective study was conducted on 98 pediatric patients with congenital heart disease admitted to Fuwai Huazhong Hospital for Cardiovascular Diseases from August 2021 to August 2023.They were randomly divided into a study group of 49 cases and a control group of 49 cases using a random number table method.The control group received routine nutritional management,while the study group received early enteral nutrition.The differences in calorie indicators,anthropometric indicators,recovery indicators,cardiac function indicators,and postoperative complications between the two groups were compared.Results The daily total intake,single intake,daily total calorie intake,and single calorie intake of the research group were all higher than those of the control group(P＜0.05).There was no statistically difference in weight and height between the two groups at admission and discharge(P＞0.05).Compared with the control group,the study group had shorter ventilator assisted time,ICU admission time,first bowel movement time,and total hospitalization time(P＜0.05).Compared with admission,left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD)and left ventricular end-systolic diameter(LVESD)decreased in both groups at discharge(P＜0.05),and the study group was lower than the control group(P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the total incidence of postoperative complications in the study group was lower(P＜0.05).Conclusion Early enteral nutrition care for children with congenital heart disease after surgery can effectively improve nutritional status,promote postoperative recovery,improve heart function,and reduce the incidence of postoperative complications.
