Abstract:Objective To translate the English version of the starting dialysis questionnaire in pre-dialysis patients(SDQ-PDP)into Chinese and examine its reliability and validity. Methods The questionnaire was translated into Chinese according to the Brislin translation model and survey was conducted on 435 patients in pre-dialysis patients to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of SDQ-PDP.Results The Chinese version of SDQ-PDP included 3 dimensions with a total of 31 items and 2 open-ended questions. The item-level content validity indexes ranged from 0.857 to 1.000,and the average of scale-content validity index on the questionnaire were 0.991.The exploratory factor analysis resulted in a three-factor structure, namely dialysis expectations, accepting dialysis and dyadic relationship characteristics, explaining 63.124%of the total variance. The results of confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated the scale model of the three-factors structure exhibited an adequate fit.The Cronbach's α for the total questionnaire score was 0.947,and test-retest reliability was 0.910.Conclusion The Chinese version of SDQ-PDP has good reliability and validity, thus rendering it a suitable tool for the assessment of the degree of adaptation to dialysis among patients in the pre-dialysis stage in China.
