Abstract:Objective To observe the efficacy of modified inflation-deflation techniques versus inflation-deflation techniques for thoracoscopic pulmonary segmentectomy. Methods One hundred non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients underwent pulmonary segmentectomy in Henan Chest Hospital from April 2024 to April 2025 were selected, and assigned into two groups using random number table methods, each with 50 cases.Control group was given inflation-deflation techniques, while study group adopted modified inflation-deflation techniques. The surgical index, time to mark intersegmental plane, postoperative pulmonary function and occurrence of complications were compared between two groups. Results The duration of surgery and postoperative length of stay were shorter in study group than those in control group, with a statistical difference(P<0.05).Study group reported a shorter time to mark intersegmental plane than control group(P<0.05).Repeated measures ANOVA showed there were statistically significant differences between the percentage of forced vital capacity to the predicted value(FVC%pred)and the percentage of forced expiratory volume in the first second to the predicted value(FEV1%pred)in inter group, and time interaction effects(P<0.05).The FVC%pred and FEV1%pred of two groups of patients decreased compared to preoperative levels at 2 weeks and 1 month after surgery, but increased at 1 month after surgery compared to 2 weeks after surgery, and study group was higher than control group(P<0.05).No statistical difference was found in overall complication rate between two groups[8.00%(4/50)vs 4.00%(2/50),P>0.05].Conclusion The modified inflation-deflation techniques can rapidly mark the intersegmental plane with few complications and can reduce the impact on the patient's lung function, making it a safe and effective procedure for the treatment of patients with NSCLC.
