Efficacy of CO2 Fractional Laser in Treating Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus in Women of Reproductive Age

Abstract：Objective To explore the short-term clinical efficacy,sexual quality of life,and psychological status of CO2 fractional laser in improving vulvar lichen sclerosus(VLS)in reproductive-age women.Methods Ninety premenopausal female patients diagnosed with VLS at the gynecology outpatient facility of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January to December 2023 were purposefully selected.Among these,eight cases were lost to subsequent follow-up,a total of 82 cases completed treatment and were successfully followed up.The demographic information and clinical characteristics were retrospectively analyzed.The study subjects were divided into the control group(40 cases)and the laser group(42 cases)based on the treatment method.The short-term clinical efficacy,clinical symptoms and signs,sexual quality of life,and psychological improvement effects among the groups at 3 months post-treatment were compared,and the occurrence of adverse reactions were observed.Results Three months after the end of treatment,the degree of external genital itching,skin elasticity,and lesion range scores of patients in the laser group reduced compared to before treatment(P＜0.05),but there was no statistically significant difference in skin color change scores(P＞0.05).The comparison of the effective rates between the two groups showed a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).The comparison of female sexual function index(FSFI)between two groups,showed a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05),and the HAMA score of the laser group after treatment was lower than that before treatment and the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Fractional CO2 laser treatment can significantly improve symptoms such as skin itching,color and elasticity in women of childbearing age with VLS.During the same time,fractional CO2 laser is more effective in improving clinical symptoms and signs,enhancing sexual quality of life,and reducing psychological anxiety in VLS patients of childbearing age,and has high safety,which is worthy of clinical promotion.
