Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of modified Henry approach in the treatment of distal radius fractures(DRF).Methods A total of 120 patients with DRF in Zhoukou Orthopedics Hospital from January 2023 to January 2024 were selected and divided into study group(60 cases)and control group(60 cases)by random number table method.Patients in the two groups were treated with volar locking plate.Patients in the control group were treated with traditional Henry approach, and patients in the study group were treated with modified Henry approach. The perioperative indexes, fracture healing time, preoperative and postoperative the Gartland and Werley score for wrist function(GW)score, disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand(DASH)score,Lane-Sandhu X-ray score, postoperative wrist mobility, complications and excellent and good rate of wrist function recovery were compared between the two groups. Results The intraoperative blood loss of patients in the study group was less than that in the control group, and the operation time, incision length, postoperative hospitalization time, resting pain disappearance time and fracture healing time were shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05).The GW function score and DASH score of patients in the study group were lower than those of the control group at 3 months and 6 months after operation, and the Lane-Sandhu X-ray score was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).At 6 months after operation, the range of motion of wrist palmar flexion, dorsiflexion, pronation and supination of patients in the study group was greater than that in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of postoperative complications between the study group and the control group(P>0.05).The excellent and good rate of wrist function recovery at 6 months after operation of patients in the study group(95.00%)was higher than that(81.67%)in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The modified Henry approach is effective in the treatment of DRF patients, which can optimize the operation process, promote fracture healing, improve wrist function and upper limb function, expand the scope of activities, and ensure safety.
