Qualitative Study on the Understanding and Attitude Towards Traditional Chinese Medicine Constitution Management Among Patients with Biased Constitution

Abstract:Objective To explore the understanding and attitude of patients with biased constitution towards Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)constitution management,to provide empirical evidence for the implementation of TCM constitution management.Methods Descriptive nature research method was adopted.Through purposive sampling,19 patients with biased constitution were selected for one-to-one structural in-depth interview,and content analysis was used to analyze and refine the interview data.Results The study extracted three themes related to the patients' understanding and attitude towards TCM constitution management:Understanding(of TCM constitution and its types,content of TCM constitution management,methods of TCM constitution management);Attitude(acceptance,compliance,and expectations);Needs(needs for information access and education,communication and participation,economic and resource support).Conclusion Patients with biased constitution have insufficient understanding of TCM constitution management,but display positive attitudes and diversified needs.Measures such as strengthening education and publicity,providing guidance and support,and improving the TCM constitution management system should be implemented to enhance their understanding of TCM constitution management,and promote their active and effective participation in their own TCM constitution management.
