Effect of Vestibular Stimulation Combined with Xingnao Kaiqiao Acupuncture on Children's Disturbance of Consciousness

Abstract：Objective To analyze the clinical value of vestibular stimulation combined with Xingnao Kaiqiao acupuncture in the treatment of children with disturbance of consciousness(DOC),in order to provide reference for clinical follow-up treatment.Methods The clinical data of 80 children with DOC treated in Henan Children's Hospital from July 2021 to July 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.According to treatment schemes,they were divided into control group(vestibular stimulation,40 cases)and observation group(vestibular stimulation and acupuncture for refreshing the brain,40 cases).Both groups were treated continuously for 30 days.The degree of coma[Glasgow coma scale(GCS)],consciousness[coma recovery scale-revised(CRS-R)],cerebral perfusion indexes[cerebral blood volume(CBV),cerebral blood flow(CBF)]and neurotransmitters[dopamine(DA),5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)]were compared between the two groups before and after treatment,and the incidence of adverse reactions was compared between the two groups.Results Speech,eye opening,motor response and CRS-R scores in both groups post-treatment were higher than pre-treatment levels,with the observation group's scores being higher(P＜0.05).Following the intervention,both groups' CBF and CBV increased relative to pre-treatment levels,with the observation group showing a greater increase(P＜0.05).Both groups' post-treatment levels of DA and 5-HT were greater than pre-treatment levels,with the observation group having a higher level(P＜0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups was not statistically significant(P＞0.05).Conclusion Vestibular stimulation combined with Xingnao Kaiqiao acupuncture in the treatment of children with DOC can effectively promote awakening,improve the state of consciousness,improve cerebral blood flow perfusion,regulate the level of neurotransmitters,help to repair brain function,and has high treatment safety.
