Effect of Short Peptide Enteral Nutrition on Primary and Secondary Pulmonary Tuberculosis in the Elderly

Abstract：Objective To explore the effects of short peptide enteral nutrition on the efficacy,nutrition and immune status of elderly patients with primary and secondary pulmonary tuberculosis.Methods A total of 160 elderly patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and nutritional risk who were hospitalized in the Tuberculosis Internal Medicine of the First Clinical College of Xinxiang Medical University from January 1,2022 to June 31,2022,and they were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table.The control group received routine nutrition education and anti-tuberculosis treatment,but the treatment group was given short peptide enteral nutrition on the basis of the control group,and both groups were treated for 6 months.The nutritional[body mass index(BMI),serum albumin(ALB),hemoglobin(Hb),triceps skinfold thickness,arm muscle circumference]and immune indexes[clusterof differentiation 4 receptor(CD4+)absolute count,interferon-γ(IFN-γ),interleukin-2(IL-2)]of the two groups before treatment and after 2 and 6 months of treatment were compared,and the clinical efficacy was compared.Results There was no significant difference in BMI,ALB,Hb,triceps skinfold thickness,CD4+absolute count,IFN-γ and IL-2 between the two groups before treatment(P＞0.05).After 2 months and 6 months of treatment,the above indicators in both groups increased(P＜0.05),and the treatment group were higher than those the control group(P＜0.001).There were no statistically significant difference in arm muscle circumference between the two groups before and after treatment(P＞0.05).After 6 months of treatment,there was no statistically significant difference in clinical efficacy between the treatment group and the control group(P＞0.05).Conclusion Short peptide enteral nutrition can improve the nutritional and immune status of elderly patients with primary and secondary pulmonary tuberculosis,with good clinical efficacy.
