Abstract:Objective To compare the effects of intracavitary radiofrequency ablation(RFA)and endovenous laser ablation(EVLA)on the grading of varicose veins and physical health in patients with lower limb varicose veins. Methods This study enrolled 128 patients with lower extremity varicose veins treated at Henan Provincial People's Hospital between April 2021 and April 2023,who were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 64 cases in each group. The observation group underwent RFA surgery, while the control group received EVLA therapy. The surgical conditions, closure rate of the great saphenous vein, incidence of complications, variceal grading[clinical-etiology-anatomy-pathophysiology(CEAP)grading],and physical health[venous clinical severity score(VCSS),36-item short-form health survey(SF-36)score]were compared between the two groups. Results No statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of operative time, limb pain, subcutaneous nodules, limb numbness, thrombophlebitis, closure rate of great saphnous vein at 3 months postoperatively,or pre-and postoperative 6-month lower extremity varicose vein classification,VCSS and SF-36 scores(P>0.05).The observation group showed greater intraoperative blood loss than the control group, shorter total hospitalization duration, lower subcutaneous bruise incidence postoperatively, decreased VCSS at 6 months postoperatively, and increased SF-36 scores compared to the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Both RFA and EVLA are effective in treating lower limb varicose veins, and can effectively improve clinical symptoms.Compared with EVLA,RFA has the characteristics of less intraoperative bleeding, shorter postoperative hospitalization time, and fewer complications.
