Abstract:Objective To investigate the status of health-related physical fitness in elderly male patients after ankle surgery and analyze its influencing factors,so as to provide guidance for improving their postoperative health-related quality of life. Methods A total of 107 elderly male patients who underwent ankle surgery at Zhengzhou Orthopaedic Hospital from January 2019 to December 2022 were prospectively and randomly selected. At 6 months postoperatively, the health-related physical fitness assessment scale was used to evaluate physical fitness.Clinical data were collected, and univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify influencing factors. Results The total postoperative health-related physical fitness score was(47.36±6.77),with scores for activity function, organ function, and physical adaptation ability being(45.32±6.47),(51.64±7.38),and(49.89±7.13),respectively.The high-level group had lower proportions of patients aged ≥75 years, body mass index(BMI)≥24 kg·m-2,diabetes,hypertension,and postoperative bed rest time>7 days, but higher proportions of daily exercise time ≥ 30 minutes and weekly exercise frequency ≥ 3 times compared with the low-level group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in smoking, alcohol consumption,American Society of Anesthesiologists(ASA)classification, disease type, hyperlipidemia,or education level between the two groups(P>0.05).Binary logistic regression analysis showed that age(OR=6.039,95%CI:1.682-21.674)and postoperative bed rest time(OR=3.107,95%CI:1.543-6.254)were independent risk factors, while daily exercise time(OR=0.235,95%CI:0.074-0.742)and weekly exercise frequency(OR=0.351,95%CI:0.142-0.869)were protective factors(P<0.05).Conclusion Postoperative health-related physical fitness is relatively low in elderly male patients after ankle surgery.Age and postoperative bed rest time are independent risk factors, while daily exercise time and weekly exercise frequency are protective factors.Clinical attention should be paid to strengthening exercise in elderly patients to improve postoperative physical fitness.
