Abstract:Objective This study aims to investigate the current situation of alexithymia in elderly coronary heart disease patients and analyze the influencing factors in order to provide a basis for clinical intervention. Methods The 20-item Toronto alexithymia scale(TAS-20)was conducted on 196 elderly patients and 175 healthy patients to analyze the current situation of alexithymia and its relationship with coronary heart disease. Results The total scores of alexithymia, lack of emotional ability, lack of fantasy and extroverted thinking were higher than those of healthy patients(P<0.05).Female patients had higher total scores of alexithymia, lack of ability to describe emotions, lack of awareness and ability to distinguish emotions and somatic feelings than male patients, and lower lack of fantasy scores than male patients(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that lack of ability to describe emotion(OR=1.146,95%CI:1.066-1.232,P<0.05)and lack of fantasy(OR=1.132,95%CI:1.051-1.220,P<0.05)were independent risk factors for coronary heart disease. Conclusion Total scores of alexithymia and some factors, and there were gender difference.Lack of ability to describe emotions and lack of fantasy are important risk factors for the development of coronary heart disease.Clinically, the incidence of coronary heart disease should be reduced by improving patients' althothymic ability and fantasy ability.
