Abstract:Objective To explore the current status of disease fear progression and potential profile categories in young and middle-aged stroke patients and to analyse the factors influencing the different categories. Methods Young and middle-aged stroke patients hospitalized in a tertiary hospital from August 2022 to April 2023 were selected for the study using a convenience sampling method.Patients were surveyed using the general information form, fear of disease progression, multidimensional fatigue, and SF-12 quality of life scale, and a latent profile analysis was conducted to identify predictors of fear of disease progression in young and middle-aged stroke patients using univariate analysis and unordered multicategorical logistic regression. Results A total of 303 validated respondents were included. The disease fear progression score for young and middle-aged stroke patients was 27(16,36),and the disease fear progression could be divided into 3 potential profile categories, namely, mild fear group(41.9%),moderate fear group(38.3%)and severe fear group(19.8%),with patient fatigue, quality of life, health insurance, whether first stroke and some occupation were the influencing factors(P<0.05).Conclusion Young and middle-aged stroke patients have an intermediate level of fear of disease and there is heterogeneity between groups.Nurses should focus on patients' fears and provide targeted interventions to reduce their mental burden according to their different categories of characteristics and influencing factors.
