Abstract:Objective To explore the differences in ITGA2 expression within glioma tissues across diverse clinicopathological characteristics and its association with patient prognosis. Methods A total of 120 patients with glioma(glioma group)and 30 patients with craniocerebral trauma who underwent intracranial decompression(control group)were enrolled in this study. The ITGA2 expression levels between the two groups were compared by immunohistochemistry. The relationship between ITGA2 expression level and clinicopathological features in glioma group was analyzed. All glioma patients were followed up and divided into good(55 cases)and poor prognosis group(65 cases)according to the incidence of recrudescence after surgery. The relationship between ITGA2 expression level and median recurrence time in glioma patients was analyzed, and the risk factors of poor prognosis in glioma patients were analyzed by logistic regression. Results The ITGA2 expression was higher in 89 cases and lower in 31 cases. All 30 cases with lower expression in normal brain tissue.Compared with normal brain tissue,ITGA2 expression level in glioma tissue was increased(P<0.001).The ITGA2 expression level was correlated with tumor diameter, tumor cell differentiation,WHO type,p53 genotype,Ki-67 expression,IDH mutation status and 1p/19q co-deletion status in glioma tissues(P<0.05).In the good prognosis group,35 cases had higher expression of ITGA2,while the 20 cases had lower expression of ITGA2.In the poor prognosis group,54 cases had higher expression of ITGA2,while the 11 cases had lower expression of ITGA2.There were differences in ITGA2 expression levels between the good and the poor prognosis group(P=0.015).The median time of recurrence was 153 days in the group with higher ITGA2 expression and 204 days in the group with lower ITGA2 expression, and there was difference in the median time of recurrence between the two groups(OR=3.441,P=0.011).The WHO grade(OR=2.445,P<0.001),p53 genotype(OR=2.683,P<0.001)and ITGA2 expression(OR=3.091,P<0.001)were independent risk factors for poor prognosis in patients with glioma. Conclusion Higher ITGA2 expression in glioma tissues is significantly associated with poor prognosis.
