Abstract:Objective To explore the expression significance of long non-coding RNA metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1(MALAT1)in multiple myeloma(MM).Methods Clinical data and paraffin embedded tissues of 12 MM patients were selected as the study subjects(myeloma group)in Zhengzhou Central Hospital Affiliated to Zhengzhou University from January 2019 to June 2021,and 12 normal bone marrow tissues during the same period were selected as the control(control group). The expression of MALAT1 was detected by qRT-PCR in both groups.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the CD163 expression and microvascular density(MVD)in two groups, and then the correlation of MALAT1 with CD163 and MVD was analyzed. Results The expression level of MALAT1 in the myeloma group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The expression of MALAT1 was associated with clinical stage in MM patients(P<0.05).MALAT1 expression was not associated with gender, age, body mass index(BMI),and recurrence in MM patients(P>0.05).The expression level of CD 163 and MVD in the myeloma group were higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).In MM,MALAT1 showed a positive correlation with CD163 expression(r=0.834,P=0.001)and MVD(r=0.734,P=0.007).Conclusion MALAT1 is highly expressed in MM and is related to clinical stage, and may be involved in MM tumor-associated macrophage polarization and angiogenesis.
