Abstract:Objective To explore the current status and potential profile classification of medical narrative competence in new nurses and to analyze the factors influencing it.Methods Convenience sampling method was used to select nurses newly recruited in a tertiary hospital in Zhengzhou City in 2022-2023 as the study subjects, and general information and medical narrative competence scales were distributed and recovered based on a web-based questionnaire format. The potential profile classification of medical narrative competence of newly recruited nurses was explored using Mplus 8.0 software,in which univariate analysis and multicategorical logistic regression were analyzed with SPSS 26.0 software. Results A total of 291 new nurses were included in this study,in which the new nurses' medical narrative competence score was 162.00(148.75,176.00),which could be categorized into three potential profile categories,namely,medium-low narrative competence subgroup(22.66%),medium-high narrative competence subgroup(48.56%),and high narrative competence subgroup(28.78%),and that the new nurses' years of experience and whether they had been trained in narrative were significant predictors(P<0.05).Conclusion New nurses have a good level of medical narrative competence, but there is some group heterogeneity, and nursing managers should pay attention to the change in their level of medical narrative and target the management of new nurses with a shorter induction period and those who have not been trained in narrative competence.
