Abstract:Objective A retrospective analysis was conducted on emergency inpatient cases in a tertiary hospital in Henan Province in order to provide a basis for emergency scheduling and the popularization of emergency knowledge. Methods The medical record homepage information of inpatients admitted to a tertiary hospital in Henan Province from January 2019 to December 2023 was extracted through the hospital information system by retrospective study, and WPS Office 2022 and SPSS 22.0 software was used to organize and analyze the data. Results Between 2019 and 2023,a total of 166 135 emergency inpatients were admitted, with an alternating annual increase and decrease from 2020 to 2023.A total of 1 880 cases died with a mortality rate of 1.13%.The difference in mortality rate between different years was statistically significant(x2=42.38,P<0.001),and the mortality rate showed a significant downward trend over time(trend x2=32.83,P<0.001).The months of February 2019,February 2020,August 2021,November 2022,and December 2023 were low peak periods, and there was a statistically significant difference in the distribution of months between different years(x2=4 712.23,P<0.001).According to the 24-hour division into 6 time periods, the number of emergency admissions from high to low was as follows:16:00-,8:00-,12:00-,20:00-,0:00-,and 4:00-.95 706 males(57.61%)and 70 429 females(42.39%),with a male to female ratio of 1.36∶1.The minimum and maximum age of the patients were 1 d-117 years old, respectively.Male and female patients were mainly aged between 25-65 years old, accounting for 55.50%and 54.80%respectively.There was a statistically significant difference in age composition between different genders(x2=222.44,P<0.001).The occupational distribution of male and female patients was mainly farmers, accounting for 33.18%and 36.62%respectively.There was a statistically significant difference in the occupational composition of different genders(x2=4 020.96,P<0.001).Among 166 135 emergency inpatients, the top 5 disease distributions were diseases of the circulatory system,injury/poisoning and certain other consequences of external causes, diseases of the digestive system, diseases of the respiratory system, and neoplasms, with a total of 110 444 cases, accounting for 66.48%.There was a statistically significant difference in the disease composition of emergency patients of different genders(x2=10 296.33,P<0.001).Among 1 880 emergency hospital deaths, the top 5 causes of death were diseases of the circulatory system, diseases of the respiratory system,injury/poisoning and certain other consequences of external causes, certain infectious and parasitic diseases, and symptoms/signs and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings, accounting for 32.55%,20.96%,13.09%,7.93%,and 7.71%,respectively.Conclusion It is necessary to strength corresponding health education and prevention work for key emergency diseases targeting different genders, ages, and occupations, and allocate medical resources reasonably based on their epidemiological results.
