Analysis of 485 HIV Antibody Confirmatory Test Results in Zhengzhou

Abstract：Objective To analyze the results of 485 human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)antibody confirmatory test from HIV-suspected patients retrospectively,so as to provide scientific basis for AIDS prevention and control in medical institutions.Methods A total of 485 HIV antibody screening test positive samples from January 2015 to January 2021 were collected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University.The HIV-suspected samples were subsequently confirmed with western blot(WB).The population characteristics and band profiles of HIV1+2 antibody positive patients were analyzed.The age of HIV-infected men and women was compared with Student t test.The educational composition of HIV-positive and HIV-negative patients was compared with x2 test.Results Confirmatory test identified 252 positive cases,49 indeterminate cases and 184 negative cases.The positive rate of confirmatory test was 51.96％.The male/female sex ratio was 2.60∶1.The average age of HIV infections was(43.88±16.50)years.There were no significant differences in age between male and female infections(P=0.602).The education level of HIV 1+2 antibody positive patients was principally junior high school and primary school,with the ratio of 65.08％.Compared with HIV1+2 antibody negative patients,HIV1+2 antibody positive patients had a statistically difference in education level(P＜0.001).gp160 and gp120 were the most prevalent bands in patients of HIV 1+2 antibody positive,both with ratios of 100％.The frequencies of p24,gp41,p66,p31 and p51 were 98.81％,97.22％,94.05％,92.46％and 90.48％,respectively.Full band(9 band)pattern was mainly observed in confirmatory test,with the ratio of 48.81％.The proportion of full band and sub-full bands(seven and more bands)was 90.48％.Conclusion HIV infections were mainly male,young and middle-aged adults,and with education levels of junior high school and primary school.The clinical symptoms of those HIV infections were obvious,with profiles of full band and sub-full bands(seven bands and more).Publicity of AIDS prevention and control and behavioral intervention should be strengthened to block the transmission of HIV.
