Abstract:Objective To explore the efficacy of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on glycemic control and mental health in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)complicated by stroke. Methods Sixty T2DM patients with ischemic stroke admitted to the Department of Neurology in Henan Provincial People's Hospital from January to September 2023 were recruited and randomly divided into a conventional treatment group and a combined mindfulness group, with 30 patients in each group, for a period of 8 weeks of treatment. The blood glucose control levels and psychological health questionnaire scores of two groups of patients before and after treatment were compared, and the therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the fasting blood glucose(FBG)levels in both groups decreased(P<0.05),but the difference between the groups was not statistically significant. The hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)levels of the two groups decreased, but there was no statistically significant difference between or within the groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the Montreal cognitive assessment(MoCA),Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)and patient health questionnaire-9(PHQ-9)scores of patients in the combined mindfulness group were better than those in the conventional treatment group(P<0.05).Conclusion Mindfulness based cognitive therapy can improve fasting blood glucose levels and mental health status in patients with T2DM and ischemic stroke.
