A Qualitative Study on the Influencing Factors of Sustained Exercise Rehabilitation in Elderly Patients After PCI from the Perspective of COM-B Model

Abstract:Objective To explore the influencing factors of sustained exercise rehabilitation in elderly patients after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)from the perspective of the COM-B model.Methods A purposive sampling method was used to select 12 patients,data was collected through semi-structured interviews,and the COM-B model was used for analysis.Results Three major themes and seven sub themes were extracted,including ability factors(physical and postoperative symptom limitations,lack of rehabilitation knowledge and weak awareness),opportunity factors(lack of social support and peer motivation,accessibility of technological assistance resources),and motivational factors(personal sense of achievement and progress perception,health education and knowledge acquisition,coping strategies and self-efficacy).Conclusion This study identifies the challenges faced by elderly patients undergoing PCI for continuous exercise rehabilitation,and proposes strategies such as constructing personalized rehabilitation plans,strengthening social support and technological assistance resources,and stimulating intrinsic motivation to enhance patient abilities,opportunities,and motivation,promote sustained exercise rehabilitation,and improve health status and quality of life.
