Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of McKenzie therapy combined with lumbar motion chain training on postoperative rehabilitation of patients with lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods A total of 68 patients with LDH who underwent surgical treatment in Zhengzhou Orthopaedic Hospital from March 2023 to March 2024 were divided into 1∶1 groups by random number table method. On the basis of routine postoperative rehabilitation training in the control group, the observation group was given McKenzie therapy combined with lumbar motion chain training. The numerical rating scale(NRS),Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)lumbar spine score,Oswestry disability index(ODI),cross section of multifidus muscle, the average amplitude of the healthy side and the weak side, the peak torque(PT),the flexor/extensor(F/E)and the average power(AP)levels were compared between the two groups before and 6 months after surgery. Results Six months after operation,NRS scores decreased in both groups, and NRS score in observation group was lower at 6 months after operation(P<0.05).Six months after surgery,JOA score increased and ODI score decreased in both groups, and the observation group had higher JOA score and lower ODI score at 6 months after surgery(P<0.05).At 6 months after surgery, the cross section and the average amplitude of the healthy side and the weak chain side of the multifidus muscle increased in both groups, and the cross section and the average amplitude of the healthy side and the weak chain side of the multifidus muscle of the observation group was higher at 6 months after surgery(P<0.05).Six months after surgery,PT and AP levels increased,F/E levels decreased, and PT and AP levels were higher,F/E levels were lower in the observation group(P<0.05).Conclusion The McKenzie therapy combined with lumbar motion chain training can relieve the postoperative pain symptoms by improving the function of the multifidus muscle and biomechanical parameters in LDH patients, and is helpful to promote the recovery of lumbar function.
