Status of Self-efficacy for Appropriate Medication Use and Its Correlation with Medication Compliance in Elderly Patients with Chronic Heart Failure

Abstract：Objective To investigate the current status of rational drug use self-efficacy in elderly patients with chronic heart failure(CHF)and explore its correlation with medication adherence,in order to provide evidence for related research.Methods A total of 198 elderly CHF patients admitted to the hospital from March 2022 to May 2023 were selected for questionnaire survey,including general information,rational drug use self-efficacy scale,family care index,and 8-item Morisky medication adherence scale.Mann-Whitney U test,x2test,Spearman correlation analysis,and multiple linear regression analysis were used for statistical analysis to analyze the current status of rational drug use self-efficacy in elderly CHF patients and its correlation with medication adherence.Results The score of rational drug use self-efficacy scale for the 198 CHF patients was(22.77±7.10)points,the score of family care index was(5.06±2.28)points,and the score of 8-item Morisky medication adherence scale was(4.21±2.07)points.The correlation analysis showed that rational drug use self-efficacy was positively correlated with medication adherence(P＜0.05).The results of multiple linear regression showed that family care index,education level,and age were the influencing factors of rational drug use self-efficiency in elderly CHF patients(P＜0.05).Conclusion The rational drug use self-efficacy of elderly CHF patients is poor.Healthcare workers can formulate targeted intervention measures based on the influencing factors of rational drug use self-efficacy to improve the situation of rational drug use self-efficacy in patients.
