Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of 131I treatment on serum levels of intact parathyroid hormone(iPTH)and insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1)in postoperative patients with differentiated thyroid cancer. Methods A total of 73 patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma from January 2020 to September 2022 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology were retrospectively analyzed and enrolled to receive total thyroidectomy and 131I therapy for residual cancer 2 months after operation. The patients were followed up for 1 month and divided into an effective group(51 cases)and an ineffective group(22 cases)according to treatment results. The levels of iPTH and IGF-1 at 7 days between the two groups after treatment, and the levels of serum iPTH and IGF-1 at each time point after treatment in the effective group were compared. Results The serum iPTH and IGF-1 levels at 7 days after treatment in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the effective group was lower than the ineffective group(P<0.05).The serum iPTH and IGF-1 levels at different time points after treatment in the effective group were different(P<0.05).Conclusion The changes of serum iPTH and IGF-1 levels in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma after 131I therapy can be used to determine the recovery of parathyroid function, and serum iPTH can also predict postoperative hypocalcemia.
