Effect of Early Swallowing Training Combined with Feedforward Control on Preventing Postoperative Coughing in Patients with Posterior Fossa Tumors

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of early swallowing training combined with feedforward control on preventing postoperative coughing in patients with posterior fossa tumors.Methods A total of 120 patients with posterior fossa tumors admitted to Henan Cancer Hospital from December 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the research subjects.They were divide into two groups according to the coin toss method,with 60 cases each.The control group received feedforward control intervention,while the observation group received early swallowing training combined with feedforward control intervention.The swallowing function,coughing,gastric tube retention time,hospital stay,adverse events,and anxiety scoreswere compared between the two groups.Results After intervention,the swallowing function score of observation group was lower than that of control group(P＜0.001).The difference in cough grading between the two groups was statistically significant(P＜0.05).The incidence of coughing in observation group was lower than that in control group(P＜0.05).The observation group had shorter gastric tube retention time and hospitalization time compared to the control group(P＜0.05).The total incidence of adverse events in observation group was lower than that in control group(P＜0.05).After the intervention,the anxiety scores of the two groups decreased,and the scores of observation group were lower than those of control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Early swallowing training combined with feedforward control intervention has a significant preventive effect on postoperative coughing in patients with posterior fossa tumors.This intervention method improves the patient's swallowing function,reduces the incidence of coughing and other complications,and shortens the duration of gastric tube indwelling and hospitalization.
