Influence of white-coat hypertension on renal function

Abstract:Objective To investigate the influence of white-coat hypertension (WCH) on renal function.Methods Four hundred and eight eligible patients who met the enter criterion were recruited in Xiayi People''s Hospital from January of 2015 to December of 2016.White-coat hypertension was diagnosed by comparing home blood pressure and office blood pressure.The levels of serum creatinine, serum cystatin-C, blood urea nitrogen, urine microalbuminuria were compared between WCH group and normotension group.Results Among 408 eligible patients, 130 patients were diagnosed as sustained hypertension, 49 patients were diagnoses as WCH, 28 patients were diagnosed as masked hypertension.There was no difference on serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen between WCH group and normotension group (P>0.05), but the levels of serum cystatin-C and urine microalbuminuria of WCH group were significantly higher than normotension group (P<0.05).Conclusion WCH may have an effect on renal function.
