Abstract:Objective To explore the quality effect of suspended red blood cells (SRBCs) storage time on the preparation of washed red blood cells (WRBCs), and provide theoretical basis for safe blood transfusion. Methods According to the storage time, SRBCs were divided into 5 groups: A(0~7 d), B(7~14 d), C(14~21 d), D(21~28 d), E(28~35 d).Then, 30 bags of SRBCs were randomly selected from each group and prepared into WRBCs.Finally, red blood cells volume, red blood cell recovery rate, white blood cell removal rate, plasma protein clearance rate, plasma free hemoglobin, supernatant protein, hemoglobin, hemolytic rate and erythrocyte deformation index were measured. Results White blood cell removal rates of group A and B were significantly higher than that of C, D and E(P<0.05).The hemolytic rates were significantly different between group A,B and C, D, E(P<0.05).With the storage time, the red blood cell deformation ability gradually decreased, and there was statistically difference between group A, B and C, D, E(P<0.05).Erythrocyte deformation index SRBCs and WRBCs of group D, E was significantly different(P<0.05).Conclusion SRBCs storage time has a great impact on the quality of WRBCs.With the prolonging of SRBCs storage time, supernatant protein and hemolytic rate are increased and erythrocyte deformation index is reduced, so it suggests that the SRBCs are no more than 14 days.
