Abstract:Objective To discuss the clinical effect of antiviral therapy on patients with hepatitis B related hepatocellular carcinoma after curative resection. Methods Two hundred and fifty-four patients with hepatitis B related hepatocellular carcinoma in the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January of 2012 to August of 2013 were selected and divide into two groups based on whether they accepted antiviral treatment or not: patients with radical resection of hepatocellular carcinoma as control group and the patients with radical resection of hepatocellular carcinoma combined with antiviral treatment as experimental group. The differences of liver function (ALT, ALB), AFP, HBV-DNA replication quantity and postoperative tumor free survival rate between the two groups after the surgery were compared. Results The experimental group and control group have obvious statistical differences in ALT, ALB, AFP and HBV-DNA replication quantity after surgery (P<0.05).The postoperative 1-, 2-, 3-year tumor free survival rates of patients in the experimental group were 93.4%, 68.5% and 46.2% respectively, and the rates of patients in the control group were 84.3%, 38.7% and 24.9% respectively. The differences of the postoperative 1-, 2-, 3-year tumor free survival rate of the patients in two groups had obvious statistical significance (P<0.05).Conclusion Hepatocellular carcinoma radical resection combined with antiviral therapy can effectively inhibit the replication of hepatitis B virus, improve postoperative liver function and prolong the postoperative survival time of patients.
