Abstract:Objective To discuss the preliminary application of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in the treatment of carotid atherosclerotic plaques. Methods Twenty five patients with carotid atherosclerotic plaques in Women & infants Hospital of Zhengzhou from January of 2015 to October of 2016 were selected and treated with statin drugs.Ultrasound contrast was performed before and after drug treatment to observe the changes of carotid atherosclerotic plaques by contrast-enhanced ultrasonography and neovascularization, and the PI value (peak intensity) of neovascularization was recorded. Results Twenty five plaques were observed in contrast-enhanced ultrasound before treatment in all the 25 patients. After treatment, neovascularization was found in the 23 cases. The PI difference after treatment (26.5±2.5) was significantly higher than that before treatment (22.1±1.2), with statistical significance (t=7.609 5, P<0.05).Two patients had no neovascularization and plaques were stable. Conclusion For patients with carotid atherosclerotic plaque, the new blood vessels can be observed by contrast-enhanced ultrasound angiography before and after treatment, which can provide the basis for drug evaluation.
