Abstract:Objective To explore the expression of B7-H3 and Smad7 protein in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) tissue and the clinical significance. Methods Eighty-two cases of ESCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues were selected and the expression of B7-H3 and Smad7 protein were detected by immunohistochemistry.Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the expression level of mRNA B7-H3 in ESCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues. Results Positive expression rate of B7-H3 protein in ESCC tissues was significantly higher than the adjacent normal tissues (P<0.05), and the positive expression rate of Smad7 protein was lower than the adjacent normal tissues (P<0.05).The expression of B7-H3 protein was negatively correlated with Smad7 protein in ESCC tissues (rs=-0.294, P=0.005).Expression of B7-H3 protein was significantly related to clinic staging and differentiation grade (P<0.05), and the expression of Smad7 protein was significantly related to differentiation grade (P<0.05).Conclusion Expression of B7-H3 protein was up-regulated and expression of Smad7 protein was down-regulated in ESCC tissues. The abnormal expression of B7-H3 and Smad7 protein may be involved in the occurrence and development of ESCC.
