An analysis of characteristics of malignant tumor incidence from 2011 to 2015 in Xixia Country, Henan Province

Abstract：Objective To describe the epidemiological characteristics of malignancy from 2011 to 2015 in Xixia Country, Henan Province by using the data from the local NCMS (New Rural Cooperative Medical System).Methods The newly diagnosed cases of malignant tumor were acquired from the NCMS in Xixia County from 2011 to 2015 through a screening procedure.The incidence of malignancy for 5 years was calculated, and χ2-test was used to evaluate the differences of incidence rate among 5 years.Results There were 3 820 new cases of malignant tumors from 2011 to 2015 in Xixia County, Henan Province, including 2 129 males and 1 691 females.There was an upward trend in incidence, and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=300.143, P＜0.05).The main malignant neoplasms were upper gastrointestinal tumors, the incidence also showed a rising trend year by year, and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=66.24, P＜0.05).Conclusion There is an upward trend in the incidence of malignant tumors, with a high incidence of esophageal and gastric cancer.We should start to carry out the region rural screening and early diagnosis and early treatment project of cancer to curb the high incidence of upper gastrointestinal tumor in the region as soon as possible.
