Abstract:Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of interferon-gamma release assay(T-SPOT.TB)in tuberculosis. Methods A total of 191 suspected tuberculosis patients were enrolled in this study. The sensitivity and specificity of T-SPOT.TB were evaluated in the diagnosis of tuberculosis.Tuberculin skin test(PPD), MycoDot Three(TB-CHECK test, TB-DOT test, TB-AB test) and acid-fast bacilli test of sputum smear for M tuberculosis were also detected in these patients. Results T-SPOT.TB, PPD, MycoDot Three, acid-fast bacilli test of soutum smear for M tuberculosis were positive in 85.5%, 60.2%, 56.4% and 8.2%, respectively, and the difference had a statistical significance(P<0.05).The specificity of the T-SPOT.TB,PPD and MycoDot Three were 79.7%, 85.7%, 56.4%, respectively. The specificity of the T-SPOT.TB was superior to MycoDot Three(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between T-SPOT.TB and PPD (P>0.05).Conclusion T-SPOT.TB has higher sensitivity and specificity than other traditional methods, such as PPD and MycoDot Three, and it deserves clinical promotion.
