Abstract:Objective To investigate the prognostic factors of gastric cancer with liver metastases. Methods The clinical data of 64 patients with hepatic metastases from gastric cancer who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from May of 2011 to August of 2014 were retrospectively analyzed.Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to estimate the overall survival and Cox proportional-hazards regression module was employed to analyze the prognostic factors. Results Four of 64 patients with hepatic metastases from gastric cancer were lost during follow-up, the median overall survival was 10 months and 1,2-year survival rates were 46.9% and 23.3% respectively. The median survival time of 21 patients who received palliative care was 5 months. The median survival time of 35 patients who received systemic chemotherapy was 10.9 months. The median survival time of 8 patients who received systemic chemotherapy + local-therapy was 11 months. The univariate analysis showed that the pathologic characteristics of primary tumor differentiation, the number of liver metastases, whether to receive systemic chemotherapy and the serum albumin level were correlated with the prognosis of patients with hepatic metastases from gastric cancer(P<0.05).The multivariate analysis showed that the primary tumor differentiation and the number of liver metastases were independent factors influencing the prognosis of patients with hepatic metastases from gastric cancer(P<0.05).Conclusion The differentiation of primary tumor and the number of liver metastases are independent factors in prognosis. These factors should be considered when choosing the treatment methods.
