Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of CAD/CAM customized abutments in oral implant restorations. Methods Eighty patients (115 implants) in whom CAD/CAM customized abutments were inserted into complete implant-supported prosthesis. The implant cumulative survival rate (CSR), the mechanical complications rate of CAD/CAM customized abutments, the average modified plaque index (mPLI), the average modified sulcus bleeding index (mSBI) and the mean marginal bone loss (MBL) were estimated. Results After 2 years follow-up, CSR was 100%, the mechanical complications rate of CAD/CAM customized abutments was 7%, mPLI was (0.83±0.70), mSBI was (0.43±0.54), MBL was (0.86±0.29)mm (mesial) and (0.81±0.27)mm (distal). Conclusion The clinical effect of CAD/CAM customized abutments in oral implant restorations can be expected, however particular technical complications are frequent.Studies of longer duration are necessary to validate the broad application of CAD/CAM customized abutments.
