Observation of the effect of clean perineal care for preventingurinary tract infection in patients with indwelling urinary catheter

Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical effect of clean perineal care for preventing urinary tract infection in patients with indwelling urinary catheter.Methods 66 patients with indwelling urinary catheter in the People's Hospital of Changyuan from June of 2013 to November of 2015 were randomly divided into observation group and control group, 33 cases in each group.The control group used chlorhexidine for perineum disinfection.The observation group used warm water to clean the perineum.The positive rate of asymptomatic bacteriuria, the rate of urinary tract infection and nursing satisfaction of the two groups were compared after treatment.Results The positive rate of asymptomatic bacteriuria, the rate of urinary tract infection and nursing satisfaction of observation group were higher than control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion For patients with indwelling urinary catheter, clean perineal care can reduce the rate of asymptomatic bacteriuria and urinary tract infection, and improve nursing satisfaction.It is worthy of promotion and application.
