Clinical application of MoCA in the diagnosis of vascular cognitive impairment in Yangjiang area

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical application value of MoCA in the diagnosis of vascular cognitive impairment in Yangjiang area.Methods 60 patients with vascular cognitive impairment over 65 years old in Yangjiang area (21 cases in dementia group and 39 cases in non-dementia group)and 60 patients with normal cognitive function over 65 years old (the con-trol group)were selected as the research objects.Their cognitive abilities were tested by MoCA and MMSE scales.The results of the two groups were compared,and the application value of MoCA was analyzed.Results The MoCA scores and MMSE scores of dementia group were lower than those in non-dementia group,and the MoCA scores and MMSE scores in non-dementia group were lower than those in control group,and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The sensitivity and accuracy of MoCA scale were 90.4% and 95.2% respectively in the dementia group,as well as 84.6% and 94.9% in non-dementia group.The sensitivity and accuracy of MoCA scale were higher than MMSE,and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion MoCA is effective in the diagnosis of vascular cognitive impairment in Yangjiang area,and the sensi-tivity and accuracy are higher.It is worth popularizing.
