Sleep quality research of palliative care on advanced cancer patients

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of palliative care on sleep quality in patients with advanced cancer. Methods 92 cancer patients in the Department of Palliative Care & Hospice Care of the Ninth People’s Hospital and joint re-search hospital were surveyed for the study. 60 effective cases were divided into control group and study group,30 cases in each group. The control group received antineoplaston and the study group received pain management,symptomatic treatment,nutri-tion support,psychotherapy. For both groups,pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)scale were used to investigate the sleep quality before treatment and 4 weeks after treatment. Results Compared with the control group,the PSQI scores of study group significantly were decreased,sleep quality was predominantly improved,and the difference was statistically significant( P <0. 05). Conclusion The sleep quality of patients with advanced cancer is poor,and palliative treatment can improve the sleep quality of patients with advanced cancer and help to improve the quality of life.
