Comparision of economic burden of the different dialysis for end -stage renal disease

Abstract：Objective To investigate the economic burden of the different dialysis for end -stage renal disease (ESRD). Methods 1 56 ESRD patients were enrolled in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January of 201 3 to Jan-uary of 201 4.They were divided into hemodialysis group (HD group,n =84)and peritoneal dialysis group (PD group,n =72).The total costs before dialysis and 1 year after regular dialysis were compared between two groups.Results The early total costs of PD group was (36.0 ±1 2.6)thousand yuan,much more than that of HD group with (21 .5 ±1 1 .3)thousand yuan (P <0.01 ).The first -year total cost of PD group was (90.2 ±37.2)thousand yuan,much less than that of HD patients with (1 1 .3 ±47.1 )thousand yuan (P <0.01 ).Conclusion In terms of treatment costs,PD is a better choice for long -term main-tenance in ESRD patients,and the economic burden is relatively light.
