Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between serum uric acid (UA)level and hypertension in patients with acute ischemic stroke (IS)under 60 years old. Methods A total of 287 consecutive patients with acute first -ever ischemic stroke under 60 years of age were recruited in a Tertiary Hospital of the city from March of 2014 to March of 2015.These patients were divided into hypertension group and non -hypertension group according to their history of hypertension. All the samples were analyzed for demographic and clinical characteristics,UA,potassium ion (K +),total cholesterol (CHOL),triglyceride (TG),high density lipoprotein (HDL),low density lipoprotein (LDL)and other biochemical indicators. The correlation be-tween UA levels and hypertension in patients with IS were analyzed. Results There were significant differences in UA levels be-tween hypertension group and non -hypertension group (P =0.003).In multivariate analysis,UA,K + levels and life in the city were closely related to the hypertension history in patients with IS.Conclusion UA levels were closely related to hypertension in patients with IS under 60 years old.
