Prevalence of HIV,HCV,syphilis infection and related risk factors among IDUs in Yunfu City

Abstract：Objective To fathom the infection status of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV),hepatits C virus (HCV)and Treponema pallidum (Syphilis)in drug addicts,as well as their related dangerous activities,so as to provide scientific basis for formulating AIDs prevention strategy.Methods The analysis was carried out by questionnaires and HIV,HCV,syphilis detec-tion towards the drug addicts in communities and addiction treatment centers in accordance with the unified national AIDS sentinel surveillance from January to September in 2014.The data was analyzed using SPSS 19.0.Results Among 1 482 respondents, 265 were from the communities and 1 217 were from addiction treatment centers.91.8% of the respondents possessed Yunfu cen-sus registration and 94.3% were male.The HIV,HCV and syphilis infection rate of the drug addicts were 3.2%,32.8% and 1.2% respectively.Its comparisons between those from the addiction treatment centers and the communities were (2.1% vs 3.4%),(30.5% vs 43.4%)and (0.5% vs 3.4%)respectively.The difference of HIV infection rate in drug addict populatio-nunder situations whether the drug -taking place was indoor or outdoor,whether taking drugs through injection,whether acu-puncture tools were shared between drug takers,had statistical meaning (P <0.001).The difference of HCV infection in drug addict population under situations whether the place was indoor or outdoor,whether taking drugs through injection,whether sex trade was presented,had statistical meaning (P <0.05).The difference of syphilis infection rate in drug addict population under situations whether the place was indoor or outdoor,whether sex trade was presented,whether condoms were used in sex trade, had statistical meaning (P <0.05).Conclusion The situation in Yunfu with the present of high risk action in drug addict pop-ulation is not optimistic.Greater effort should be devoted to intervene with drug addicts from now on,going to greater lengths in maintaining the standard of clean acupuncture tools for use and adanon treatment.
