Analysis on value of thymosin α1 in the clinical treatment of severe pneumonia

Abstract：Objective To analyze the value of thymosin α1 in the clinical treatment of severe pneumonia.Methods 80 pa-tients with severe pneumonia were diagnosed in the People’s Hospital of Zhengzhou,which were randomly divided into two groups according to the ballot,with 40 cases in each group.Both groups were given conventional treatment.The observation group was given subcutaneous injections of thymosin α1 on the basis of conventional therapy.The levels of immune cells,serum procalcitonin (PCT),C -reactive protein (CRP),white blood cell count (WBC)and other changes of the two groups were de-tected and compared before and after treatment.Results After treatment,WBC,CRP,PCT of the two groups were significantly lower than before treatment(P <0.05).The degree of decline in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P <0.05).After treatment,CD4 + and CD8 + cells of the observation group were significantly lower than the con-trol group(P <0.05).The duration of ICU and mechanical ventilation of patients in the observation group was significantly shor-ter than that of the control group(P <0.05).Conclusion Thymosin α1 can help improve inflammatory markers and enhance cellular immune function for the patients with severe pneumonia.
