Abstract:Objective To explore the guiding significance of miR -21 -5P and miR -155 -5P expressed in serum for the diagnosis and prognosis of paraquat intoxication. Methods 102 cases of patients with paraquat intoxication in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from November of 2014 to August of 2015 were chosen and divided into the mild group(n =32),moderate group(n =42),and severe group(n =28)according to their semi -quantification results of urine paraqua when they were admitted to the hospital. At the same time,30 healthy persons were selected as the control group. The clinical data and related indicators of each group were collected, and the expression of miR -21 -5P and miR -155 -5P was measured to evalu-ate their clinical value in the diagnosis and treatment of paraquat intoxication. Results The area under the ROC curve was 0.883 for the diagnosis of paraquat intoxication using miR -21 -5P, while that was 0.839 using miR -155 -5P.The expression of miR -21 -5P and miR -155 -5P was statistically different between the healthy, mild, moderate, and severe groups. There was also statistically significant difference between survival and death group (P <0.05).Conclusion The expression of miR -21 -5P and miR -155 -5P in serum may be used as an indicator for the diagnosis of paraquat intoxication, and they have positive clinical significance for the prognosis of paraquat intoxication.
