Abstract:Objective To observe the short - term and long - term effects of absorbable rib nails in the treatment of multiple rib fractures. Methods 80 patients with multiple rib fractures were divided into control group and observation group,40 patients in each group. The control group was treated with the conventional conservative treatment, while the observation group was treated with the absorbable rib nails. The treatment effect, complications were compared between the two groups and the bone healing status was followed up for 3 to 12 months. Results The average chest tube indwelling time, mechanical ventilation time and hospitalization time in the observation groups were lower than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P ﹤ 0. 05). The delayed pneumothorax, pulmonary infection, deformity of thorax and pleural effusion rates in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P ﹤0. 05). In addition, after 3 to 12 months, the bone healing in the observation group was good, and the control group was 10. 0% ,the difference was statistically significant (P ﹤0. 05). Conclusion The clinical effects of absorbable rib nails in the treatment of multiple rib fractures were clear enough, the complications were few,and the long - term bone healing were good. It observed the clinical application.
