Abstract:Objective To investigate the application value of Masson staining in the diagnosis of microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix. Methods 1 08 cases suspected as microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix were collected. Immunohistochemistry and Masson staining were used to detect them. Results Both Masson and immunohistochemistry staining can show basement membrane thinning or defect.Masson staining:70(64.8%)cases were microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma, 20(1 8.5%)cases were cervical carcinoma in situ,1 8(16.7%)cases were cervical squamous cell carcinoma.Immunohistochemistry staining:60(55.6%)cases were microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma,24 (22.2%)cases were cervical carcinoma in situ,24 (22.2%)cases were cervical squamous cell carcinoma. There were no statistically difference between Masson and Immunohisto-chemical staining (P >0.05).Conclusion Masson staining can be used in the diagnosis of microinvasive squamous cell carcino-ma of the cervix, especially in assisting HE in fast frozen.
