Efficacy and safety of vinpocetine in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy

Abstract：Objective To analyze the efficacy and safety of vinpocetine in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods 252 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy treated in The First People's Hospital of Shangqiu City from January of 2009 to March of 2014 were selected and randomly divided into treatment group(130 cases)and control group(122 cases). The treatment group was treated with vinpocetine while the control group was treated with ligustrazine.The nerve function,ability of daily living and adverse reactions were compared.Results The scores of nerve function and ability of daily living were better than control group(P <0.05).There were no adverse reaction found in the treatment.Conclusion Vinpocetine had a good effi-cacy and safety in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy,deserving the clinical expasion.
