Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of conventiongal MRI in combination with diffusion weighted imaging in the diagnosis of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma of soft tissue. Methods The MRI imaging data of 16 patients confirmed by operation and pathology in the radiology department of Henan Cancer Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Results In the 16 cases of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma,11 cases were located in thigh,2 cases in calf,2 cases in buttock and 1 case in upper arm,all of them were single lesion. The MRI appearance varied in different cases, and 14 of them were irregular and lobu-lated mass.13 cases were shown slight hypo -intense or iso -intense signal on T1 WI,while 3 were heterogeneous high signal. All of the 16 cases were shown heterogeneous high signal on T2 WI and fat suppression sequence.8 cases had separated sign,8 cases had pseudomembrane, and 9 cases had peritumoral edema. The tumors were enhanced obviously and unequally. All of them were high signal on DWI.Conclusion Conventional MRI in combination with DWI can be very valuable for the diagnosis of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma of soft tissue.
