Effects of sitagliptin on clinical efficacy and quality of life in type 2 diabetes with obesity

Abstract：Objective To evaluate the effects of sitagliptin on clinical efficacy and quality of life in type 2 diabetes with obe-sity and explore its clinical applicability.Methods 70 cases of type 2 diabetes from May of 201 2 to May of 201 3 in Affiliated Hospital of Panzhihua University were randomly divided into two groups.35 patients in the control group were treated with met-formin and 35 patients in the observation group were treated with metformin and sitagliptin.The changes of the levels of FPG, 2 h -PG,HbA1 c and weight were observed before and after treatment.The improvement of life quality was observed between two groups after follow -up three months.Results There was no significant difference in FPG,2 h -PG,HbA1 c,BMI,TC, TG and HDL -C before treatment between the two groups(P >0.05 ).The levels of all these indicators were significantly improved after treatment(P <0.05 ).The improvement situation in the observation group was better than the control group (P <0.05 ).Serious adverse reactions were not found in the two groups during treatment.Conclusion For patients with type 2 diabetes with obesity,sitagliptin can effectively control blood glucose,improve the obesity and the quality of life. Therefore,it is suitable for clinical application.
