Abstract:Objective To study the clinicalopathological characteristics of female patients with esophageal cancer and prog-nostic factors of survival. Methods The clinical data of 851 female patients with esophageal cancer from January of 2009 to De-cember of 201 3 in Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Zhengzhou University were retrospective analyzed and compared with 1 873 male patients with esophageal cancer. The K -Manalysis and COX regression analysis method were used to analyze the prognostic fac-tors of female patients with esophageal cancer. Results There were statistical differences in the onset age, tumor location, the lesion length and infiltration depth and TNM staging between female patients and male patients with esophageal cancer(P <0.05).1 ,3,5 -year survival rates of Male and female patients were 86%,59%,42% and 86%,65%,48% respectively, and the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05).Tumor length, infiltration depth,TNMstage were independent prog-nostic factors for female patients with esophageal cancer. Conclusion The pathological characteristics and the prognosis of fe-male patiants with esophageal cancer were different from male patients with esophageal cancer. The prognosis of female patients with esophageal cancer is better than male patients, and it may be associated with different pathological characteristics.
