Comparison of the effects of different doses of methylprednisolnne combined with ibuprofen on fever of children with severe hand,foot and mouth disease

Abstract:Objective To compare the effects of different doses of methylprednisolnne combined with ibuprofen on fever of children with severe hand,foot and mouth disease(HFMD). Methods 63 children with severe HFMD with temperature ≥39. 0 ℃ were selected. 32 children were enrolled in treatment group and given 4 - 6 mg/ kg methylprednisolone with ibuprofen each time. 31 children were enrolled in control group and accordingly given 1 - 2 mg/ kg methylprednisolone with ibuprofen each time. Antipyretic effects and adverse reaction were compared. Results Compared with control group,the duration of high fever was shorter,the interval of non - fever was longer and the frequency of high fever was lower(P < 0. 05). There was no serious adverse reaction in the two groups. Conclusion The length of time of high fever can be shorten in severe HFMD children pa-tients when they are given 4 - 6 mg/ kg methylprednisolone with ibuprofen each time,and the risk of the development of severe cases into critical illness could be reduced.
