Abstract:Objective To analyze the relationship of symptoms and clinicopathological characteristics, survival status in pa-tients with early esophageal cancer. Methods The data of 4 845 patients with early esophageal squamous cell carcinoma con-firmed by pathology were retrospectively analyzed, the relationship of common symptoms and clinicopathological characteristics and the influences on prognosis were analyzed. Results The common symptoms were not smooth in swallowing, dysphagia, odyophagia, chest pain and discomfort. The common symptoms got the significant differences in gender, tumor site,length,dif-ferentiation and general type.Chest pain and discomfort was likely to be considered as clinical symptom in male patients with tumor with the diameter below 3 cm.Patients with odynophagia often got the tumor in the middle of esophagus and dysphagia was more likely to occur in the patients whose general type of the tumor was erosive.Patients who got the tumor with middle differentiation tended to show the symptoms:chest pain, discomfort and not smooth in swallowing. The four symptoms were relevant with surviv-al.Patients with chest pain and discomfort got the best prognosis, while the dysphagia got the opposite result. Conclusion Chest pain and discomfort was more likely to occur in male patients whose tumor was middle differentiation or the length below 3 cm and in the middle of esophagus, patients of which got the best prognosis.Patients with dysphagia often got the tumor with e-rosive type, and the prognosis was the worst.
