Comparison of antiviral treatment compliance of patients with AIDS in rural and city

Abstract:Objective To compare the antiviral treatment compliance of patients with AIDS in rural and city.Methods 98 patients with AIDS receiving antiretroviral treatment in Infectious Disease Hospital of Hebi were selected and divided to rural group and the urban group.The antiviral treatment compliances of patients were judged by weekly telephone follow -up,remai-ning number of pills and monthly face -to -face interview way.Then the reason was analyzed.Chi -square test was used for statistical analysis.Results The rural group got the rate of poor compliance with 27.3%,and urban group got the rate of poor compliance with 7%.The difference was statistically significant (P <0.05).The main reason of poor compliance in the rural group was work reasons (34%)and inadequate attention (28.2%).Compared with the city group,the difference was statisti-cally significant (P <0.05).And because of psychological pressure(25.8%),the urban group led to a poorer compliance than the rural group (3.9%),and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05).Conclusion Antiviral treatment compli-ance of AIDS patients in rural areas was poor.The main reason was the work and the inadequate attention which were more than urban areas.And the psychological pressure was the main reason for poor compliance in urban areas.We should do more educa-tion work of compliance in rural area and take necessary individual education and treatment measures.
