Analysis on misdiagnosis of 72 children with cough variant asthma

Abstract：Objective To explore the reason of misdiagnosis of children with cough variant asthma.Methods The clinical data of 72 children with cough variant asthma misdiagnosis treated in CITIC Central Hospital from January of 201 1 to January of 201 4 were retrospectively analyzed.Results Among the 72 cases,38 cases were misdiagnosed as bronchitis(52.8%);1 6 ca-ses were misdiagnosed as mycoplasma pneumonia(20.2%);6 cases were misdiagnosed as postnasal drip syndrome(8.3%);4 cases were misdiagnosed as primary tuberculosis(5.6%);2 cases were misdiagnosed as pertussis(2.8%);2 cases were misdi-agnosed as eosinophils pneumonia(2.8%)and 4 cases were misdiagnosed as gastroesophageal reflux(5.6%).Conclusion Strengthening the understanding of clinical characteristics of CVA,raising our vigilance against the CVA and following the guide-lines strictly was the only way to prevent misdiagnosis of cough variant asthma.
